Jane Fair/Rosemary Galloway Quintet
Waltz Out RGCD 001-2Heres a surefire winner! Great compositions and inventive playing. This is basically a new project for the quartet of women who all lead their own respective groups. Jane Fair projects the same lyrical qualities found in that of Stan Getz while pianist Nancy Walker cant hide the influence of Bill Evans. Trumpeter Lina Allemano adds the right amount of bite to heat things up.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 2002The Jane Fair/ Rosemary Galloway Quintet
CD release Waltz Out.This is a new project co led by composer/ instrumentalists Rosemary Galloway and Jane Fair. Over the last two years a fortuitous grouping of sympathetic musicians has led to the development of a creative chemistry between the members of this group. Appearances in the GTA led to a wave of new writing, producing provocative and engaging material. These are experienced and musically mature musicians, whose music remains fresh with each performance.
Nancy Walker, pianist, breathes harmonic and rhythmic fire into everything she touches. Whether soloing or accompanying, Nancy plays with an exquisite sense of line and texture. Drums and bass, Terry Clarke and Rosemary Galloway, provide inspired support and acute responsiveness to match the flow of ideas. Trumpet, Lina Allemano, and saxophone, Jane Fair, bring two distinct approaches to the music that interact to produce both beauty and the unexpected. This is a strong and vibrant musical unit.
The quintet released a new CD in August, Waltz Out, featuring compositions by Fair, Galloway, and Walker. The group performed at eastern jazz festivals this summer, with tremendous audience response, and is preparing for a western tour in 2003. Listeners can expect an extraordinary breadth and depth of material from the original compositions offered, contemporary musical landscapes which remain engaging and accessible.
